Early life and education

Che Guevara was born in Rosario, Argentina, on 14 June 1928. He studied medicine and his travels across Latin America exposed him to widespread poverty and inequality, which deeply influenced his political views.

Role in the Cuban Revolution

Guevara joined Fidel Castro’s movement and became one of its best-known commanders. He later held influential positions in post-revolutionary Cuba and wrote on guerrilla warfare and revolutionary strategy.

Later campaigns and death

He left Cuba to support revolutionary movements abroad, first in Congo and then in Bolivia. He was captured by Bolivian forces and executed in La Higuera, Bolivia, on 9 October 1967.

Legacy and symbolism

After his death, Guevara became a martyr figure for many leftists and anti-imperialist advocates. His image, especially the Alberto Korda photograph, evolved into a global symbol used far beyond its original political context.
