Early life

Siegel was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1906 and grew up in a Jewish immigrant environment. He became involved in crime at a young age and later formed connections with Meyer Lansky and other mob figures.

Organized crime career

Siegel was involved in bootlegging during Prohibition and later in gambling and other criminal operations. He became associated with Murder, Inc. and broader syndicate activity linked to the National Crime Syndicate.

Las Vegas and the Flamingo

Siegel is best known for his role in the early development of Las Vegas as a gambling destination. He was closely associated with the Flamingo Hotel and Casino, one of the city’s landmark early resorts.

Death and legacy

Siegel was killed by gunfire in Beverly Hills in 1947, and the murder remains unsolved. He became a lasting figure in American crime history and popular culture.
